Description: The extent of works that James and Son Ltd have completed are:-

Partitions

The installation of the jumbo stud partitions and shaftwalls that form the enclosure to the reception area at the Ground and Lower Ground floor levels.

The walls range from 4.00m-7.50m high and are generally curved to both convex and concave radii. Great care had to be taken in the setting out and installation process to ensure that all radii were true and correct to suit the large curved profiles installed at a later date for the Levolux LED lighting louvres.

The full height curved walls to the Ground floor that run past the mezzanine slab had to be constructed in two halves cantilevered on steel plates installed by James and Son Ltd.

Purpose made acoustic panels and grills have been installed into these walls behind the lighting louvers in the reception area.

All walls have a taped and jointed finish.

Wall Linings

We have installed various types of wall linings that from the backing to the Levolux lighting louvres.

These are generally to the sides of the escalators and to a large apron between the ground and lower ground floors.

All works were independently supported and installed to suit the straight and curved lines that have now been enhanced by the Levolux lighting louvres.

Suspended Ceilings

We have installed all of the plasterboard ceilings to both the Lower Ground and Ground floor levels.

All ceilings have been double boarded with a taped and jointed finish.

The ceiling to the reception area is in excess of 1,200M² and includes a number of details.

1) Expansion joints.

2) Bulkhead detail to Central Atrium.

3) Recessed lighting features.

4) Recessed features to columns.

5) Radius trims to level and tracks.

6) Curved light trough detail to highlight the internal perimeter grillage ceiling.

Colonnade Ceilings

We have installed 363 Nr specially made heavy galvanized grillage panels as a suspended ceiling both internally and externally which incorporate purpose made cut outs for lights and circular columns.

Prior to the panels being installed a complex and varying set of bracketry and threaded rods were precisely set out and installed from the underside of the first floor slab.

Each rod had to be set to correspond with each one of the 6 brackets on each panel.

On completion of these works an M/F suspension system was installed with either a plasterboard finish (internally) or a matt black painted insulated board (externally) fixed to it.

Each purpose made panel, to suit the curvature of the building, was then installed onto the threaded rods ensuring all gaps between them and the surrounding finishes were consistent with the dimensions on the drawings.

Special attention was made to ensure the internal panels and the external panels visually lined through the glazed curtain walling.
